HATSINGIMARI: The Agricultural Development Officer of the Jhowdanga Agriculture Development Block, Mithu Gogoi interacted with the local farmers of Jhowdanga with the aim of spreading awareness regarding the scientific agricultural practices as well as government schemes for the benefit of the farmers. Over 20 farmers from the region took part in this meeting on Wednesday.

The official interacted with a number of local farmers in this meeting organised at Jhowdanga in the Mankachar South Salmara District of the State. He informed the farmers that the production of corn cultivated using the seed supplied by the department had doubled in the previous season compared to the one before and this has led to an increase in the income of the farmers of the region.

He also encouraged the farmers to use the high-quality seeds supplied by the Agriculture Department and follow the knowledge tips and information shared by the concerned authorities from time to time and how they will help to boost the production as well as the income of the farmers.

The official also spoke to the farmers regarding the various government schemes for the farmers of the region. He mentioned about the Pradhan Mantri Krishak Samman Nidi Scheme, Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme, Kisan Credit Card and Procurement of Paddy. He also shared information regarding the usage of fertilizers, insecticides and other chemicals by the farmers and their positive as well as negative impacts with the local farmers.

Previously, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK) in Sivasagar, launched an advanced agricultural technology operated by IFCO Krishan Co. Ltd. at Nakatani Kalugaon on the outskirt of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district under Jakaichuk Red Rice Farmers Producer Company. IFCO Senior Manager Suraj Kumar Sinha, in the presence of Kishore Rabha,District Development Manager(DDM) NABARD, Sivasagar , Dr. Arundhati Bardoloi, Chief Scientist,KVK,Sivasagar and other officials of KVK officially cut the ribbon and inaugurated the project funded by NABARD in the paddy field of Polash Dohotia.
