GOLAGHAT: The Assam Agriculture Commission, set up by the State government to explore alternatives to commercial agricultural production, on Thursday visited agricultural land in different areas of Golaghat district. The team first visited agricultural lands of farmers of Da Samoa village under the Farkating agricultural circle of the district and interacted with farmers. After this, the team visited various farms owned by Golaghat Tomato Farmers Production Company under Forkating Agriculture Circle and participated in a meeting with the farmers.

During the meeting, they discussed with the farmers about the crops and markets of the farmers. Members of this high-level commission of the Government of Assam then participated in a meeting with the farmers at the Agricultural Customer Hearing Centre (CHC) at Jathi Patia village of Morangi Mouza and also discussed various problems faced by the farmers. In the meeting, he exchanged views on issues such as double cultivation, agricultural mechanization, increase in farmers’ production, increase in farmers’ income through government facilities in agricultural land of the district. On this day, under the Social Responsibility Section of Numaligarh Oil Refinery, the Mithamchapari Jathiptia High Ground Development Project was formally inaugurated by cutting the ribbon. The meeting was attended by Mintu Handique,General Manager, Social Responsibility, Numaligarh Oil Refinery, Dr Bhavesh Chandra Deka, Senior Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr. Bhairab Gogoi and nearly two hundred farmers.

The members of the Assam Agriculture Commission who visited Golaghat district today are Dr. Nalin Mohan, Dr. Bhuvan Chandra Bora, Dr. Atul Chandra Sharma and Media Expert Mridusmita Choudhury. This high-level team of the Assam Agriculture Commission was accompanied by Golaghat District Agriculture Officer Ranjit Sharma and officials of the Agriculture Department,Golaghat.
