LAKHIMPUR: College of Sericulture, Titabor, under Assam Agriculture University organized a sericulture exhibition in North Lakhimpur on Wednesday under the project entitled ‘Sustainable Security of Tribal Community of Assam through Sericulture Centric Promotional Activities under Tribal Sub Plan’ sponsored by ICAR, New Delhi, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lakhimpur and Assistant Director of Sericulture, Lakhimpur, Government of Assam.
Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Dr. Jeevan B inaugurated the programme which was held at Basudev Kalyan Trust. In the inaugural session, Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta released a hand book on sericulture related training. The head of Sericulture Department, AAU, Lohit Chandra Dutta delivered the welcome address. Padma Sri Uddhav Bhorali delivered an encouraging lecture addressing the Muga and Edi farmers present in the programme. Agriculture Development Officer Prabin Saikia, Deputy Director of Handloom and Textile Prashanta Borthakur, Chief Scientist of Regional Agriculture Research Station Dr. Prabal Saikia and Head of Lakhimpur KVK, Dr. Bhabesh Chandra Deka also took part in the programme.
