GUWAHATI: In a remarkable effort to combat climate change and promote environmental conservation, the Assam Government recently organized a special event that could make history. This event, held in Guwahati, marked the beginning of the "Amrit Brikshya Andolan," a massive tree-planting campaign scheduled to run until September 19. The primary goal was to set nine Guinness World Records, showcasing Assam's commitment to preserving its natural heritage.

The standout feature of this event was the attempt to establish the longest line of potted seedlings, artfully arranged in a spiral pattern that spanned an impressive 22 kilometers. This extraordinary display featured a staggering 3.5 lakh saplings, symbolizing Assam's dedication to reforestation and ecological sustainability.

High-ranking officials from the Assam Government, including cabinet ministers Chandra Mohan Patowary, Ajanta Neog, and Sanjoy Kishan, were present to support and witness this monumental undertaking. Additionally, key figures such as the Additional Chief Secretary Sri Ravi Shankar Prasad, PCCF & HoFF Mahendra Kumar Yadava, and Kamrup Metro DC Pallav Gopal Jha graced the event with their presence. Representatives from the Guinness World Records, including official Prabin Patel, also attended this awe-inspiring spectacle at the Veterinary College Playground in Guwahati's Khanapara.

Addressing the gathering, Assam's Environment and Forest Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary, emphasized the significance of the occasion. He stated, "Today, we are looking to create a Guinness World Record of over 22 km long line of seedlings in a spiral pattern with over 3.20 lakh saplings. Tomorrow, we will distribute over 3.20 lakh saplings among the people, and it will also create the Guinness World Record for the largest sapling distribution. We are aiming to create a total of nine Guinness World Records, and we will plant over 1 crore saplings in a single day on September 17."

This ambitious endeavor by the Assam Government is not limited to a single world record attempt. They plan to establish nine different Guinness World Records during this mega plantation drive. This includes breaking four existing world records while setting five new ones. These records will serve as a testament to Assam's dedication to environmental preservation and its determination to combat the challenges posed by climate change.

The Assam Government's commitment to reforestation and sustainability is evident in this extraordinary event. As they work tirelessly to secure these Guinness World Records, they also plant the seeds of a greener, more sustainable future for the region and the planet as a whole.
