MARGHERITA: The Margherita unit of the All Assam Judicial Employees’ Association staged a protest and decided to refrain from their duties on Tuesday. This led to the complete stagnation of the legal proceedings in the Margherita Circle office for the day.

Answering the call of the All Assam Judicial Employees’ Association, the employees of the judiciary in different parts of the state staged a protest to highlight several of their demands. The Margherita unit of the organisation also staged a protest regarding the same, which saw the participation of many of their members who refrained from carrying out their duties for the day.

Some of the key demands of the organisation include the publication of service rules as per the suggestions of the Respted Shetty Commission. Creation of Bench Clerk Grade I, II, III posts, consideration of 25% Grade IV employees during promotion and giving special allowance to the stenographers, drivers, record keepers and other employees. They also demanded that a 5% recommendatory allowance be given to the employees engaged in the Lok Adalat and the inclusion of the salaries of the Judicial Employees under ROP 2017.

They also demanded the creation of several posts including head assistants in the motor vehicles tribunal, registers and protocol officers in various courts and post wise graduate scale to select positions. They also demanded an increment of the grade pay of Grade IV from Rs 3900 to Rs 4400 and the fixing of the pay structure for all judicial employees. The organisation also demanded a fixed Travel Allowance for the concerned employees and medical bill reimbursement for all the employees.

The All Assam Judicial Employees’ Association also demanded the immediate implementation of the recommendations of the Shetty Commission. The central committee of the organisation had made this call to protest a few days back.
