Assam: Amrit Kalash Yatra held in Sootea Development Block

JAMUGURIHAT: Like other parts of the country, the block level Amrit Kalash Yatra was held at Sootea Development Block on Sunday. In this connection, all the 10 Gram Panchayats under Sootea Development Block reached the development block premises along with spectacular processions carried out by respective panchayats. All the soil carried by the 10 gram panchayats in two earthen pitchers respectively were mixed and placed in two brass pitchers. Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika attended the programme and interacted with the people and briefly explained about the Amrit Kalash Yatra. The event was attended by Palak Sarma, BDO, Sootea development block, Lakhi Kanta Bora, president of Sootea Anchalik Panchayat, among other dignitaries. Notably, the two brass pitchers will be taken to the Biswanath district at a later stage and to the State-level function as per schedule.
