Assam: Around 100 Fall Sick After Eating Wedding Meal

GUWAHATI: Nearly 100 people fell sick with food poisoning after having a meal at a wedding in Assam's Tezpur under the Sonitpur district.

As per reports, the wedding attendees fell sick after consuming the food at a wedding reception that took place in Puthimari village.

Meanwhile, police and concerned authorities reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

Notably, the mass food poisoning led to a chaotic scene in the Puthimari village even as no one complained of serious complications to their health.

Three of them, who are in critical condition, have been admitted to Tezpur Medical College Hospital (TMCH) while others are being treated at home.

Last month, at least four people had lost their lives after consuming poisonous mushrooms in Assam's Dibrugarh district.

According to reports, on April 7, a family had eaten unknown mushrooms after which they fell sick.

All the sick persons were taken to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh for treatment. However, four of them died during treatment while the others were still in critical condition.
