LAKHIMPUR: As part of the moves undertaken by the Governments of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to settle the long pending border dispute, a meeting was organized in Lakhimpur district on Tuesday. The meeting was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office between the Regional Committees constituted for Lakhimpur district of Assam and Kamle district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Labour and Tea Tribe Welfare Minister Sanjay Kishan, Guardian Secretary of Lakhimpur district B Kalyan Chakraborthy, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur Sumit Sattawan, representatives of the MLAs of the four LACs under Lakhimpur district were present in the meeting.

On the other hand, Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Affairs Er. Tage Taki, Kamle MLA Tarin Dakpe, Deputy Commissioner of Kamle district Adung Partin and many other officers were present in the meeting representing the Kamle district Regional Committee. Besides them, the Circle Officers and Forest Department Officers of both districts were also present in the event.

As per report found from the DIPRO of Lakhimpur, Mandira Chayengiya, discussion on disputed areas of Inter-State Border, like Raj-Ali, Mibpo, Kera, Bomte, Lumsi, Tanio, Boginadi Forest Beat Office under Lakhimpur and Kamle districts was held in the meeting.

Later the dignitaries of the two regional committees took part in an interactive programme with the media persons. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sanjay Kishan said that the meeting was held in a cordial and positive environment as per instruction issued by the Union Government to settle the border dispute between the two States. "We are looking forward that the long pending issue will come to an end very soon. The resolutions taken in the meeting will be submitted to the Chief Ministers of both States", Sanjay Kishan stated.

On the other hand, Arunachal Pradesh Minister Er. Tage Taki said, "The boundary between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh is only an administrative boundary. It is not the boundary to check the exchange of love among the people living in the both States. We should maintain peace and render progress for our upcoming generations."

The Ministers appealed to the public of the both districts not to panic centering round the border dispute.

However, the dignitaries of the regional committees did not disclose what resolutions were taken in the meeting. The committees did not disclose anything, when asked, if any piece of land belonging to Lakhimpur district would be given to Arunachal Pradesh. "In this connection, decision will be taken at Chief Minister's level," Minister Sanjay Kishan said.
