Assam, Arunachal to Get Additional Central Assistance of Rs 513 Cr for Floods, Landslides of 2020

New Delhi: The Centre has approved Rs 437.15 crore for Assam and Rs. 75.86 crore for Arunachal Pradesh as part of Central assistance being extended to five states affected by floods and landslides in 2020.

A total of Rs 1,751.05 crore have been cleared as additional Central assistance to five - Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. The money has been sanctioned from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).

The decision was taken at a High Level Committee (HLC) held under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah in New Delhi on Friday.

Approving the assistance, Home Minister Shah said, "the Union Government under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has resolved to help our sisters and brothers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh who braved these natural disasters," an official statement said.

For floods and landslides during South-West monsoon-2020, Rs. 320.94 crore has been sanctioned for Odisha, Rs. 245.96 crore for Telangana and Rs. 386.06 crore for Uttar Pradesh have been approved.

For hailstorm during Rabi 2019-20, Rs. 285.08 crore has been approved for Uttar Pradesh.
