GUWAHATI: In a coordinated and targeted operation, the Assam Rifles Field Intelligence Unit, in conjunction with the Cachar police and CRPF B/147 battalion, achieved a significant breakthrough by successfully apprehending two notorious drug peddlers in Manikpur village, located within the jurisdiction of the Srikona Police station in Cachar district, Assam.

The joint operation, conducted by the 3 FID (DGARFIU, Silchar), unfolded with precision, resulting in the arrest of Sammim Ahmed (30) and Samsuddion Barbhiya (31). The duo was found in possession of a substantial quantity of banned YABA tablets, totaling 2000 in number. According to reliable police sources, the market value of the seized YABA tablets is estimated to be a staggering ₹4 crores.

The success of the operation underscores the effectiveness of collaboration between the Assam Rifles, Cachar police, and CRPF B/147 battalion in combating the menace of drug trafficking in the region. The seamless coordination and strategic execution of the mission demonstrate the commitment of the law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

During the operation, not only were the culprits apprehended, but significant assets related to the illicit trade were also confiscated. Among the seized items were a Pulser Bike (AS11A-1790) believed to be associated with the illegal activities and two Android mobile sets, possibly used for communication and coordination within the network.

The arrested individuals, Sammim Ahmed and Samsuddion Barbhiya will face legal proceedings, and their apprehension is expected to disrupt the supply chain of illicit substances in the area. The substantial value of the seized YABA tablets highlights the economic impact of such illegal activities on society.
