Assam Assembly Election: Nine candidates file nomination in Sivasagar

DEMOW: The first phase of the forthcoming polls will be held on March 27, and Tuesday was the last day for filling of nomination papers for the first phase.

Dipen Tanti, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate for Thowra constituency, filed his nomination papers before the Returning Officer in Sivasagar on Tuesday. In Sivasagar constituency, Surabhi Rajkonwari, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, filed her nomination papers before the Returning Officer in Sivasagar on Tuesday. BJP supporters took out a rally while Surabhi Rajkonwari went to file her nomination papers.

Subhramitra Gogoi, INC candidate, also file his nomination papers in Sivasagar on Tuesday and his supporters also took out a rally. In Sivasagar constituency, Ajit Hazarika, NCP candidate, and Hemanta Baruah, independent candidate, also filed their nomination papers. In Amguri constituency, Chandra Barua, AJP candidate, Pradeep Hazarika, independent candidate, Rajkumar Duworah, independent candidate, and Dharmeswar Ghatowar, independent candidate, filed their nomination papers in Sivasagar. A total of nine candidates of Sivasagar district filed their nominations on Tuesday.
