KOKRAJHAR: Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary on Saturday visited Dotma in Kokrajhar district. As part of the programme, he visited Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma's house at Boragari village and handed over appointment letter of Library Attendant of Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat and Electronic Wheelchair to the nephew of Bodofa Tublao Brahma and Menla Brahma respectively in the presence of MLAs Lawrence Islary, Jiron Basumatary, Chief Executive Member of Boro Kochari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) Mihiniswar Basumatary, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka, Executive Member of BKWAC Anil Basumatary and other dignitaries.
The speaker also visited Thulungapuri of Dotma and paid floral tributes to the graveyard and statue of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. Subsequently, he graced an interaction session with leading citizens and intellectuals of the Dotma area chaired by Dr. Subung Basumatary, Chairman of the U N Brahma Trust and Registrar of Bodoland University.
Addressing the gathering, Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimari said "We must be committed to help the family members of Bodofa UN Brahma for his contributions to the Bodo people and the society in general." He said that he was very much delighted to be able to hand over appointment letter to a family member of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma during his first visit to his house in Baragari village. Sharing his observations, the Speaker added that Bodofa's ideology was almost similar to that of Mahatma Gandhi as Bodofa also united the Bodo community for their interests as Mahatma Gandhi united the countrymen for the freedom of the country. He urged all the people to follow the ideology that Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma taught for the betterment of the society. Chief Executive Member of BKWAC Mihiniswar Basumatary, MLAs Lawrence Islary and Jayanta Basumatary also addressed the gathering.
Meanwhile, the CEM of BKWAC Mihiniswar Basumatary said the Bodos reached to present status because of great vision of Bodofa UN Brahma. He called upon all to work together for the greater interest of the people of the region with the principle of Bodofa.
