Assam: At Least 20 Injured After Collided with Private Vehicle at Bongra

GUWAHATI: According to reports, a crash that happened in Guwahati's Borjhar left at least 20 persons with serious injuries. Initial reports state that a private four-wheeler and an inter-district bus carrying passengers crashed in Bongra, close to the Borjhar airport in Guwahati. The four-wheeler that was involved in the collision was a Maruti Suzuki Alto. 20 persons were hurt in the incident, eight of them are reported to be in critical condition, according to the information that has been obtained.

According to another report, both vehicles were headed from Guwahati to Goalpara when the collision happened. Although there were no early reports of casualties, some of the passengers' conditions are still critical.

In the meantime, the collision blocked the road, making it impossible for vehicles to pass, which caused congestion in the neighbourhood. It should be mentioned that earlier in the day, news of another traffic tragedy that had claimed two lives in Goalpara, Assam, surfaced. A husband and wife were reportedly among those killed after a four-wheeler struck an approaching truck carrying cylinders head-on on national highway 17 close to Agia village in Goalpara.

According to investigators, three additional victims suffered severe injuries in the ensuing accident. The injured were hurried over to the Goalpara Civil Hospital right away. Pabitra Poddar was the name of the deceased husband; the woman's identity was not immediately known. Two children and at least five other people were hurt in a vehicle accident that happened in the Barpeta region of Assam on Friday morning.

According to sources, the car they were riding in lost control and crashed into a marsh, hurting everyone inside. The incident was reported from Pathsala on National Highway 27. The injured passengers were extricated from the car after the accident, and they were sent to Swahid Madan Routa Hospital in Pathsala.

According to information obtained, the victims were on their way from Bongaigaon to Dhekiajuli when the accident happened.
