Assam: Awareness camps on Agniveer held in Sivasagar district

Sivasagar: Awareness camps in different places in the Sivasagar district were organized by Gargaon College with the active support of the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army from July 7 to July 17.

Five awareness camps were held during the period at Joyrapar, Betbari, Geleky, Namti and Nazira. These camps were attended by more than 2,500 Agniveer aspirants from various corners of the Sivasagar district. The participants were guided by Major Jonah Halam and Captain Bivash Biswas of 12 Assam Rifles, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College, and Dr Raktim Patar, Assistant Professor, Gargaon College.

In these camps, aspirants were motivated to join the Armed forces under the Agniveer scheme recently launched by the Government of India. They were guided to fill up the online application form and issues related to the physical fitness test, medical fitness test and written examination were thoroughly discussed. Besides, the Agniveer aspirants, a large number of local dignitaries and ex-servicemen participated in the camps. The police administration of the Sivasagar district and several NGOs also extended their support in successfully organizing the camps.
