TANGLA: The 24-hour Assam bandh called by disbanded proscribed outfit National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB), which was supported by Bodo National Students' Union (Bonso), Bodo Women's Justice Forum (BWJF), Boro People's Committee for Peace Initiative (BPCPI) and Society for Indigenous People's Right(SIPR), evoked full response in Udalguri district with business activities during this Puja season being adversely affected in Tangla, Kalaigaon, Harisinga, Khoirabari, Mazbat and Rowta in the Udalguri district on Wednesday. However, essential services, examinations in schools and colleges were held uninterrupted during the bandh.

No untoward incident was been reported during the bandh hours. Pertinently, the bandh was called after the Gauhati High Court upheld the life imprisonment sentence to former NDFB chairman Ranjan Daimary and 10 others in the October 2008 serial blasts case. The high court, however, set aside the conviction of four others in the case.
