BISWANATH CHARIALI: Four thieves were arrested in connection with the bank robbery case in a raid led by Sanjay Saikia, the officer-in-charge of Halem police station in Biswanath district. Arrested from Goalpara district and brought to Halem police station on Saturday morning, the four robbers were identified as Mofidul Islam (30, father- Fazur Ali), Hanif Ali (35, father- Budhu Miyan) and Hasher Ali (26, father- Iddis Ali) of Govindapur and Omar Farooq (20, father- Abdul Aziz) of Hasibil. It was under the leadership of the four thieves that the burglary took place around 2:10 pm on January 9 at the Gamiri branch of the Assam Gramin Vikash Bank under Halem police station.

The CCTV footage showed that around 2-10 pm that day, the gang of thieves broke open the lock of the main door and entered the bank branch. One of them entered without a face mask and on the basis of the face of this thief, four thieves involved in the bank robbery case were apprehended by police. The four thieves were working as masons in the Gamiri area. They later fled to Goalpara on the night of January 9 after committing theft at the bank branch.
