Guwahati: Two-State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members Rupam Deka and Dr Anurabh Kalita from Nalbari have been suspended from the party and primary membership for their alleged involvement in 'anti-social activities'.

The order was issued by state BJP general secretary Diplu Ranjan Sarma under the direction of state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita on Saturday.

On the other hand, the Assam government is keeping a close look on any untoward situation so that no communal clash incident occurs in the state after violence and protests erupted in several parts of India on Friday against the disparaging remarks made by two Bharatiya Janata Party spokespersons about Prophet Muhammad.
