Assam: Brother of NSCN-KYA chief arrested

In a joint operation by Eastern Command Intelligence Battalion (ECIB), Assam police and 18 Garhwal Rifles has apprehended two Prepak cadres and one NSCN-KYA associate during an operation in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia district.

DIBRUGARH: In a joint operation by Eastern Command Intelligence Battalion (ECIB), Assam police and 18 Garhwal Rifles has apprehended two Prepak cadres and one NSCN-KYA associate during an operation in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia district.

“One Prepak cadre was apprehended near Dibrugarh airport and further as per his statement one more Prepak cadre and an NSCN-KYA associate were intercepted by operation team from Jagun in Tinsukia district area while they were on their way to reach Myanmar via Dibrugarh Tinsukia Digboi Jagun & Jairampur,” stated a press release. The arrested persons has been identified as- Marmet Ngaimong(29), Nongthombam Kabichandram Singh(38) and Pebam Akash Singh (23).

The two nabbed Prepak cadres have been identified as Nongthombam Kabichandram Singh and Pebam Akash Singh, hailing from Imphal East and Imphal West districts respectively in Manipur. Marmet Ngaimonng is a younger brother of NSCN-KYA chairman Yung Aung. Sources said he was coordinating all the things as per direction of his elder brother Yung Aung.
