GUWAHATI: A bus carrying pilgrims crashed into a ditch at Rangjuli under Assam's Goalpara district on Saturday, inflicting at least 27 persons with severe injuries.

The bus, according to sources, was travelling from West Bengal to Guwahati to visit the Kamakhya Temple when it lost control and crashed into a ditch by the side of the road. Despite the fact that 27 of them had critical injuries, reports said there were no fatalities.

The injured were taken immediately after the event to a hospital in Rangjuli for treatment.

In Assam's Dhubri district last month, a head-on collision between an e-rickshaw and a speeding car left several school children injured. An e-rickshaw carrying students who were travelling to take their High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) board examinations was struck head-on by a speeding car with the registration number "AS 01E 4732" in the incident that was reported on Indira Gandhi Road.

Together with the students, the e-rickshaw drivers also suffered critical wounds. The impact was so severe, according to eyewitnesses, that the e-rickshaw toppled and the kids were thrown from their seats. The injured students were rushed to the Dhubri Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Tragically, a vehicle accident in Kacharipara, Assam's Hatsingimara, resulted in the death of one person and serious injuries to another. The victims' motorcycle lost control and collided with the side of the road, causing the disaster.

The deceased person has been identified as Qaim Ali, a local of Sukchar's Fakirpara Village. Another young person riding with Qaim Ali, Miraul Islam, received significant injuries and was taken urgently to Goalpara for more care.

The bike reportedly lost control while trying to dodge a pothole on the road while moving at a high rate of speed, according to sources. The collision had such a profound effect that the bike sustained extensive damage.
