GUWAHATI: On Monday, a businessman was critically hurt in a shooting incident in Chalchali, Nagaon, Assam. Hafizur Rahman, a businessman and Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Project coordinator, was gravely injured in the shooting incident carried out by unidentified miscreants.
According to sources, the event occurred during a business quarrel. The police arrived quickly at the crime scene and began their investigation.
Hafizur Rahman, who is in serious condition, has been admitted to a private nursing home in Nagaon, where medical specialists are caring for him.
Meanwhile, One suspect was caught in connection with the shooting incident. The culprit has been identified as Inamul Hassan, who is accused of being engaged in the shooting incident that injured a businessman. He was arrested at Ham-Ak Rural College of Education.
In February, miscreants opened fire on the owner of a customer service centre in Kartimari, Tulsibeel, Kokrajhar district, Assam. The owner of the service point, Biswajit Burman, was attacked by five unidentified men on February 23 evening.
During the attack, the miscreants allegedly stole Rs 2 lakh from Biswajit Burman, according to sources. The tragedy has sent shockwaves throughout the neighbourhood, and authorities have initiated an inquiry.
In 2022, Unidentified assailants shot at a businessman in the Narabari region under the Serfanguri police station in western Assam's Kokrajhar district.
According to authorities, Sunil Mondol, a businessman, was sitting on his verandah when two armed men on a motorbike wearing helmets approached and opened fire on him at 8:30 p.m. He was hit in the chest by a bullet. He was transferred to Serfanguri Hospital initially, and then to Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon.
According to the injured person's relatives, the merchant received an extortion demand of Rs 2 lakhs a few days ago from the militant group Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO).
In connection with the event, two people were captured. The arrested individuals have been named as Uttam Roy, 24, and Mridul Roy, 26. Both have been identified as KLO cadres.
Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police (SP) Prateek Thube stated that the police have begun an inquiry to find the perpetrators of the event.
