Assam: Cabinet Sanctioned Rs. 167 Cr for Procurement of Bicycles for 3 Lakh Students

Assam Cabinet has approved the procurement of Bicycles for 3,78,000 students of Class-IX, boys and girls, of 4372 Govt and Provincialised Schools. Rs.167.95 Crore has been sanctioned.

GUWAHATI: The purchase of bicycles for 3, 78,000 Class IX students—boys and girls—from 4372 Government and Provincialized Schools has been approved by the Cabinet. The approved amount is Rs. 167.95 crore. Bicycles are purchased using the Government of e-Marketplace portal.

The Assam Right of Children to free and Compulsory Education Rules were amended by Cabinet approval to allow the Alumni Association to nominate two people for the SMC. The local PRI/ULB will propose one representative. This will give former students and local elected bodies more ability to manage primary schools.

Taking on twitter, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced that, “Cabinet approved amendment to Assam Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules to authorise the Alumni Association to nominate 2 members to the SMC. The local PRI/ULB will nominate one member. This will empower the ex-students and local elected bodies to play an important role in managing Primary Schools.”

For the systematic administration of schools, the Cabinet has approved the introduction of a School Rule Book. Check out the draught at ssa.assam.gov.in . There are 26 areas with particular policies/guidelines for running our schools on a daily basis.

On the other hand, according to Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, the Assam government made 106 appointments on Wednesday to fill openings in the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) division of the state.

Taking to Twitter, Minister Ranoj Pegu informed, “Continuing HCM Dr. @himantabiswa led Govt of Assam's mission of #OneLakhJobs, distributed Appointment Letters to 94 Asst. Professors of Colleges, 10 Lecturers & 2 Script Writers of SCERT.” “I convey my best wishes to them. Advisor Prof. @ngmahanta, Addl CS @SamalBiswa_R, and other Sr Officers were present.” He also added.

Ranoj Pegu made it clear on Friday that there is no official order from the education department requiring schools to hold required sessions during the summer break.

This declaration was made in reaction to recent reports that suggested that vacation-time teaching would be required.
