GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that the Assam cabinet has decided to create a new department for protecting the culture and practices of people belonging to tribal and other indigenous communities. The CM said that Assam government's new department would guarantee that the state's indigenous population will save their faith and traditions, while offering essential help to them. The cabinet decisions of Assam BJP government about the indigenous faith and communities bring the state a quick execution of plans.
During the meeting in a press meet, CM Sarma said that the cabinet has concurred that financial and administrative changes were important to eliminate red tape and guarantee quick execution of plans. He explained that the departmental heads will be qualified for giving its gesture for projects worth Rs 2 crore and beneath, and a finance committee headed by chief secretary for those between Rs 2 crore and Rs 5 crore.
CM Sarma further said that a unique standing finance headed by the finance minister will be endorsing projects that are worth anything between Rs 5 crore and Rs 100 crore, and just the cabinet will try out ahead to plans that include assets over Rs 100 crore.
This week, regarding financial and administrative reform, the State Cabinet also took a couple of decisions directly from initiating best employees' awards to serving traditional Assamese snacks at all government meetings and programmes. Assam's three ministers Pijush Hazarika, Bimal Borah, and Ranoj Pegu said that all government meetings and programmes would begin with the State's anthem 'O mor apunar dekh' and end with the national anthem 'Jana gana mano...' Hence, the decision of protecting indigenous population faith and tradition will offer essential help to the state.
