Silchar: On Tuesday evening, the Cachar police has arrested two members of the All Bengali Students Youth Organization (ABSYO) For allegedly being involved in defacing Assamese hoardings by smearing black ink on them.

The arrested members of the ABSYO have been identified as Raju Deb and Samar Das.

The members of the All Bengali Students Youth Organization (ABSYO) and the Barak Democratic Youth Front (BDYF) were allegedly involved in smearing black ink on a number of Assamese hoardings in Silchar.

This incident has angered the general public and several other organisations in Assam who have now demanded strict action to be taken against the culprits.

On Tuesday, the Cachar police summoned BDYF chief Pradip Dutta Roy for questioning the involvement of the organisation in the incident. However, the BDYF chief alleged that the organisation had not played any part in bringing dishonour to the Assamese language.

He revealed that the BDYF had organised a protest in the same venue where the incident took place but they had informed the police about their plans to protest. He further added that the organisation had no idea about who was behind the incident and claimed that the hoardings were smeared with black ink before they even reached the venue.
