SILCHAR: In a surprise catch, Cachar police on Thursday morning, apprehended two persons including a Meghalaya police constable on charge of smuggling contraband substances. 38 miniscule bottles containing heroine and Rs 32,800 in cash were recovered from the car they were driving. The Meghalaya police constable was identified as Kanak Gurung and other person was Vinay Nongplu.

Pancha Pallab Bora, the in-charge of Gumra police investigation centre bordering Meghalaya had received an information that a consignment of contraband substances was being smuggled at this route. During checking, the police team recovered the substances from the possession of Gurung and his aide while another person in the car managed to escape.
