BISWANATH CHARIALI: All India Primary Teachers’ Association and Assam State Primary Teachers’ Association will take out rallies from September 5 demanding cancellation of the new pension policy. The journey will start from the four corners of the state, i.e. East, West, North and South. The programme will be held in Guwahati on September 5, at Sivasagar on September 6, at Biswanath Chariali on September 7, at Nalbari on September 8 and on September 9 at Kokrajhar. Along with the exclusive locations of the state, this programme will demand cancellation of new pension policy, regularization of contractual posts at all levels and removal of anti-education and anti-teacher loopholes in the National Education Policy.

President of Assam State Primary Teachers’ Association, Akhil Chandra Nath and General Secretary Ratul Goswami announced the programmes in a meeting held at Binapani Natya Samaj Auditorium, Biswanath Chariali on Sunday. The president and the general secretary of the association claimed that the All India Primary Teachers’ Association and the Assam State Primary Teachers’ Association have been holding discussions with the governments several times, but the governments have not accepted the demands of the primary teachers. Representatives of a number of teachers’ organisations attended the meeting.

Ratul Goswami, general secretary, also told media persons that the head teachers of the primary schools from all over the State will collectively refund the charge allowance of Rs 300 on August 19.
