Assam: Capacity-building programme for producer companies held in Lahoal

DIBRUGARH: A two days capacity building programme for the members of farmers producer companies formed by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) was organized at its office premise of Kordoibam in Lahoal Development block. The logistic support was given by NABARD and Assam Agricultural University Jorhat for the said programme. Speaking on the occasion the senior scientist and head of the kendra Dr. Diganta Sharmah urged all the members of farmers producer company to put their effort with utmost sincerity and dedication to establish farmers producers company into a very successful institution. Pranoy Bordoloi, NABARD, Dibrugarh who addressed the programme as chief guest emphasized on proper record keeping and documentation of all the activities of FPC on regular basis.

Dr. Hemchandra Saikia , an expert in agricultural economics of KVK here in his address to the participants explained about importance of having a fruitful, practical, acceptable and affordable business plan (both short term and long term) according to the skills, efficiency and potential of members concerned. He also highlighted about some potential and successful business activity capable of generating sustainable income which can be adopted by the members of FPC according to their division of labour. Resource persons from the Kendra Dr.Sudeshna Baruah, Dr. Sanghamitra Sarma, Chayanika Thakuria, Dr. Sangita Bora Saikia, Santanu Paul, K.B Chetri and Dhurbajit Dutta delivered their lectures on various income generating activities and on some facilitative functions respectively. The programme, which was moderated by Dr. Diganta Sharmah and coordinated by Dr. Hemchandra Saikia and Dr. Sudeshna Baruah of KVK Dibrugarh, was attended by 40 members including BODs, CEOs and accountants of two FPCs — Khowang Seuj Krishi Producer Company Ltd and Asurja Agro-producer Company Ltd promoted by KVK Dibrugarh.
