Assam: Celebrating World Soil Day; CM Urges Collective Efforts for Soil Health

GUWAHATI: In a fervent appeal on World Soil Day, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma underscored the pivotal significance of soil, describing it as the soul of Mother Earth. Through a post on the micro-blogging site X, Sarma emphasized the determinative role that soil plays in sustaining life on our planet.

"Soul of Mother Earth! The founding element of Panch Tattva, soil plays a determinant role in sustaining life on this planet. It is through soil that we get the basic necessities of life and where we sustain ourselves. On #WorldSoilDay, I call upon everyone to work towards enhancing soil health so that the future generations can continue to reap the benefits of this crucial element," wrote Sarma.

World Soil Day, observed annually on December 5th, serves as a global platform to raise awareness about the critical role soil plays in the sustenance of life. The day encourages individuals, communities, and governments to recognize the importance of soil and take proactive measures to preserve and enhance its health.
