TINSUKIA: The 4-day long Diamond Jubilee celebration and 62nd biennial conference of Assam Chah Karmachari Sangha (ACKS) got a colourful start at Duliajan Bihutoli under the aegis of Tingrai branch of ACKS with the inauguration of delegate camp and an executive meeting.
The key programme began on Sunday with the hoisting of ACKS and INTUC flags by central president Md Harisur Zamal and general secretary Rishav Kalita respectively in presence of more than 800 delegates from 20 ACKS branches of Assam. The event also featured hoisting of 75 flags by branch secretaries and presidents coinciding with 75 years of its establishment followed by a cultural procession which was inaugurated by Duliajan MLA Terash Guwalla. The open session was inaugurated by Paban Singh Ghatowar, former Union Minister and president ACMS. While the objective was laid by Rishav Kalita, the welcome address was delivered by Terash Guwalla, president of the reception committee.
