Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha demanded wage hike

Dibrugarh: General Secretary of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha, Rupesh Gowala submitted a memorandum to the Labour Minister of Assam recently demanding a rise in the wage of the labourers and employees of the tea estates of Assam Chah Nigam Limited (ACNL).

Through a press release, he informed that while the daily-wage labourers of other tea gardens of the state were earning a daily wage of Rs 167, the ones working for ACNL were getting a mere 115 as daily wage.

He also stated that a bilateral agreement for effectuating the rise in the daily wage of tea labourers across Assam was signed between Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha and Tea Gardens Owners’ Union, thousands of labourers working in all 14 tea estates of ACNL were still receiving Rs 115.
