Pathsala: The police in Bajali district seem to have failed in checking incidents of robbery and chain-snatching in Pathsala town. Incidents of robbery and chain snatching have been on the rise in recent times. Locals alleged that the police have failed to arrest the miscreants. People are concerned about their safety and security.

On Friday night, thieves stole around Rs 2 lakh and gold ornaments worth around Rs 3 lakh from the residence of a police official named Suresh Kalita. Kalita works in the special branch of the Assam Police, headquartered at Kahilipara in Guwahati.

Moreover, two separate incidents of chain snatching were also reported from Pathsala. As per report, a few days ago, thieves stole mobile phones worth Rs 30 lakh from a store named MS Creator in Pathsala town near the State Bank of India branch. Mridul Talukdar, join secretary of the central committee of AJYCP, said, "Many shops and houses have been looted by miscreants in Pathsala town. People have lost their faith in the police.
