DIMA HASAO: The Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is on a one-day visit to the Dima Hasao Autonomous district of the state. He is expected to take part in several events and flag off multiple projects during his visit.

The Chief Minister reached Dima Hasao in the first half of Saturday. He is expected to take part in several events including the formal handing over of the arms by cadres of the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA). The outfit had signed a peace treaty recently allowing them to return to the mainstream. Himanta Biswa Sarma is expected to inaugurate several school and college-related projects in the Dima Hasao Autonomous District.

The Chief Executive Member of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa welcomed the chief minister on his arrival at the hill district. Several members of the students’ organisations also welcomed the Chief Minister on his visit.

It can be noted that several other dignitaries including Ministers Jayanta Malla Baruah, Jogen Mohan and Nandita Gorlosa as well as the Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang have also accompanied the chief minister on this visit.

Meanwhile, in a recent statement, Assam's Chief Minister and prominent BJP leader in Northeast India, Himanta Biswa Sarma, boldly predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would triumph in at least 11.5 out of the 14 parliamentary seats in Assam during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Sarma's declaration was delivered with confidence, reflecting his party's aspirations for a strong electoral performance.

Sarma's assertion didn't end with his prediction; he went on to express a willingness to engage with other opposition parties for the remaining 2.5 seats. This gesture underscores the BJP's strategic approach to forming alliances and broadening its political influence, which has been a hallmark of the party's electoral strategy in recent years.
