JAMUGURIHAT: On the occasion of completion of one year of the inception of Rangapeeth Performing Art School, Jamugurihat, two bhaonas of Srimanta Sankardev and Mahapurush Madhavdev were performed at the Barhampur namghar premises on Wednesday night by child artistes.

‘Jhumura Pimpara Gusuwa’ scripted by Mahapurush Madhavdev and ‘Rukmini Haran’ written by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev were performed on Wednesday night respectively. The bhaona programme was inaugurated by emerging journalist Angelo Sangmai. It was graced by Jitu Agarwala as guest of honour. The bhaonas were enacted under the supervision and direction of Pranju Baruti and music direction was done by Anisha Bora.

Rangapeeth Performing Art School was established in Jamugurihat by Pranju Baruti with an objective of drawing the attention of the young generation towards the invaluable creations of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev and Madhabdev. The school has been imparting training on Xattriya dance, Sankari Sangeet, Ankiya drama, bhaona, Borgeet etc. to 60 students for the last one year.

The bhaona programme was organized in collaboration with Barhampur Village Development Committee, Arun Yubak Samaj and the general public. The performance was witnessed by the guardians and villagers along with the general public. Social activist Minku Kalita conducted the proceedings.
