Assam: Children’s Day celebrated in Udalguri district

Synchronizing with the countrywide celebration of Children’s Day, Gurukul Group of Educational Wing celebrated its annual day with a day-long programme on Tuesday at their campus at Bhangabarua, a remote village of Kalaigaon in Udalguri district.

MANGALDAI: Synchronizing with the countrywide celebration of Children’s Day, Gurukul Group of Educational Wing celebrated its annual day with a day-long programme on Tuesday at their campus at Bhangabarua, a remote village of Kalaigaon in Udalguri district. National Award for teacher recipient Shashangka Hazarika and media person Bhargab Kumar Das inaugurated the celebration by ceremonially lighting the lamp in front of the portrait of former Prime Minister Jawahal Lal Nehru. Former Head of KCG College of Engineering and Technology, Chennai Er Abdul Hai taking part in the celebration spoke on the significance and importance of the Children’s Day. In the function Director of Gurukul Group of Educational Wing Er Durlav Sarkar and Principal Sangita Adhikari Sarkar offered felicitation to former Principals of Kabirali HS School Jiban Ch Saharia and Dambaru Dhar Goswami, former Headmaster of Chengapara High School Tankeswar Barua in recognition of their service in the academic field. The students also added attraction to the celebration with their excellent performance of cultural programmes.

District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) Darrang also joined the hands with the Children’s Day celebration in association with Mangaldai Mahila Kalyan Samaj at Kasturi Shishu Griha at Bamunpara near here. Inmates of the Shishu Griha and children of nearby villages joined the on the spot drawing competition. Secretary of DLSA Shatabdi Bhuyan taking part in the celebration spoke on the child friendly legal services to the children and protection measures as per the guidelines of National Legal Service Authority (NLSA). Social activists Hari Chandra Sarma, Rupali Morol, Rajashree Sarma, Pranjal Thakuria, Ganesh Dutta and Shekhar Mazumdar also took part in the celebration. Earlier, president of Mangaldai Mahila Kalyan Samaj Rashmi Rekha Sarma in her welcome speech, explained the significance of Children’s Day.
