GOLAGHAT: A 13-year-old class VII student drowned in the Dhansiri river at the Dhansiri river bridge under Golaghat Police on Sunday.

The student has been identified as Himangshu Gogoi, who is 13 years old and a resident of Podumoni Gaon. According to the source, the deceased youth and his two friends went for a picnic at the Dhansiri river bank near the Dhansiri bridge in Golaghat.

In the afternoon, three friends—Deepjyoti Gogoi, Himanshu Gogoi, and Deepjyoti Medhi—went to the bank of the Dhansiri River for a picnic.

After the picnics, the three friends go into the river to bathe. Himanshu Gogoi suddenly drowned in the water while taking a bath. The rest of the friends tried to save him but could not. At present, an SDRF team arrived at the spot and started a search operation that continued until the filing of this report. The missing news in the river chest of a class VII student while going for a picnic has cast a pall of gloom in the area.
