GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday that he would pay a visit as soon as he receives a "formal letter," a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal publicly asked his Assam counterpart to stop by his residence in Delhi for a cup of tea and lunch.

"He has invited me for lunch. I'll go  as soon as I get an formal letter for the same," Sarma remarked to the reporters in Gujarat's Devbhumi Dwarka, a town known for its temples. Sarma travelled to Dwarka to take part in the Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board's Shree Krishna-Rukmini Vivah Satkar Samaroh, which marked the conclusion of the five-day Madhavpur cultural fair.

"I'll go talk to him and find out why he lies so much and where he learned the craft. I'd meet him for sure to ask him this. I'm still awaiting his official letter, though. I'll visit him as soon as I get the letter," Sarma continued.

On Sunday, Kejriwal said Sarma had been threatening to "put him in jail" for the previous two days while speaking at a rally in Assam. Kejriwal, who serves as the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) national convener, claimed he was not a terrorist. "I welcome Himanta Babu to come to my residence in Delhi for tea. And if he has the time, please join me for dinner. I'll take him on a tour of the city and the fantastic job we've accomplished there.”

If Kejriwal brought up suspected corruption cases against him outside of the Assembly, Sarma had threatened to sue him for defamation on Friday.

“Is there a case or formal complaint filed against me anywhere in the nation? I wanted to take action him, but, like a coward, he talked inside the assembly”, Sarma asserts.
