GUWAHATI : Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced that Government of Assam has decided to increase salary of the casual workers, muster roll, and work charged employees of the state government, which will provide increased financial perks. 

It is worth mentioning here that, casual employees of the state government have put forward a demand to increase their actual salary by minimum 3 percent annually. 

The CM declared the acceptance of this demand stating that, a decision has been made collaboratively by the officials that the salary of the casual employees will be raised by 3 percent. 

Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned this while interacting with the media here on Monday. This particular announcement assures perks and benefits to more than 13,000 causal employees, muster roll and work charged. 

Back in 2018, when CM Himanta Biswa Sarma was serving as the Finance minister, he declared that the minimum salary of the muster role employees used to be around Rs 3000 to Rs 6000. 

However, after the introduction of the pay scale system, the basic monthly wage will be approximately Rs 18,000, he added. Furthermore, in 2022, the state administration raised their everyday allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 767. A notification was issued for the same ensuring immediate action. 

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also tweeted regarding the matter focusing on the importance of a Home Guard, who maintains law and order. The state government while completing their demand, increased their salary to Rs 23, 010. 

It is worth mentioning here that, the average salary of government employees is expected to be increased after the presentation of the Union Budget of 2023. Nirmala Sitharam, the finance minister, is expected to deliver the Budget Speech on 1st February, 2023. As per the reports, the budget session will begin on 31st January.
