Assam CM Denies Breaking Rules During Kaziranga Safari, In Response To FIR

GOLAGHAT: Assam CM got himself into trouble when two activists filed an FIR against him, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah for venturing into the Kaziranga National park after scheduled visiting hours of the park.

The activists said in a statement that Assam CM along with Jaggi Vasudev and Jayanta Malla Baruah violated the Wildlife Protection Law, of 1972 after they entered the park with a vehicle to have a jungle safari after the allotted time slot for visitors which ends at 4:30 PM.

Assam CM has vehemently dismissed all the allegations and said that there is no law that says no one can visit the national park at night.

It is to be noted here that Madhya Pradesh in India last year introduced night safaris in three of its national parks which are Bandhavgarh National Park, Kanha National Park, and Pench National Park so that visitors can watch the majestic animals in the quiet of the night and also it would be a big booster to the tourism sector of the state.

Now that Kaziranga National Park has no provision for night safaris, there is speculation that the Assam CM along with Jaggi Vasudev and Jayanta Malla Baruah might have broken the rules of the park.

Taking a vehicle into a national park or any other protected forested area breaks the natural rhythm of the wild animals living there as the lights of the vehicles mostly confuse them as they do not normally come across such powerful lights, wildlife experts say.

Just like no one would like any visitor in their sleeping hours, the same applies to wild animals when they have visitors after sundown, they surmise.

While there is actually no law that says anyone cannot venture into a national park after visiting hours but seems to be basic common sense that animals do not like to be disturbed at night.
