LAKHIMPUR: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday visited the birthplace of spiritual icon Sri Sri Madhabdev and the under-construction site of Madhavdeb Kalakshetra at Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district. During the visit, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das and Bihpuriya MLA Dr. Amiya Kumar Bhuyan, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka and Gohpur MLA Utpal Bora.
After taking stock of the progress of the construction work, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma directed the PWD Department to complete construction of the Kalakshetra within a period of nine months. Dr. Sarma also asked local MLA Dr. Amiya Kumar Bhuyan to regularly monitor the progress of the construction work and ensure timely completion of the project. He also asked the executing agency to maintain the quality of the construction work.
Later interacting with media persons, the Chief Minister stated that the Madhabdev Kalakshetra was under construction with a sanctioned fund amounting to around Rs. 50 crore. "This project has been considered as State Priority Project. We expect that the project can be completed within 9 to 12 months. Sankardev Kalakshetra Samiti of Guwahati has been designated to manage the Madhabdev Kalakshetra. The Sankardev Kalakshetra Samiti will manage this project too, as smoothly as the Samiti is managing the Sankardev Kalakshetra," the Chief Minister asserted.
