GUWAHATI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother, Heeraben died in the early hours of Friday after being hospitalised in the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre. Modi performed the last rituals of his mother at a crematorium in Gandhinagar. 

The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his sadness on Heeraben's death. He described her as the symbol of simplicity and humility. 

He shared a tweet from his individual tweeter account and stated that, Heeraben Maa showered blessings to all for 100 glorious years, she symbolised humility, simplicity and conviction. He prayed for her soul to rest in heaven. 

Furthermore the CM shared another tweet where he emphasises the role of a mother in a child's life. He expressed his gratefulness towards Heeraben as she dedicated a determined son to India to uplift religion and nation as a whole.

Sarbananda Sonowal also expressed his grief. He stated that, there is no loss that could be compared to the loss of one's mother. He paid his condolences to the Hon'ble Prime Minister. Heeraben turned 100 years in 2022. 

She was admitted in the hospital due to some heart condition, following the accident of Prahlad Modi, brother of Narendra Modi. Prahlad Modi was with his family in a Mercedes Benz when unfortunately the vehicle hit a roadside divider. 

Everyone inside the car including Prahlad his son, grandchild, daughter in law and the driver received minor injuries. The PM met his mother while his stay in Gujarat during the assembly elections of 2022. After receiving the news of her hospitalisation, he rushed to the UN Mehta hospital and spent time with his mother and other family members for one and a half hours.

Jugalji Lokhandwal, BJP Rajya Sabha member informed media that, Heeraben was recovering fast, but destiny had some other choices.
