TEZPUR: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday visited Tezpur to attend the district-level Bihu preparation in the greater Sonitpur district at Tezpur Church Field, organized by the Sonitpur district administration.
The Government of Assam has organized a mega Bihu dance programme on April 14 in front of Prime Minister Modi with the aim to find a place in the Guinness Book of World Records with highest number of Bihu dancers. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma oversaw the Bihu practice wherein more than 1,160 artistes, including 770 girls and 390 boys, were practising to participate in the coveted event.
Sarma inspected the practice session and expressed his satisfaction. He said, “Assam is going all out in its effort to set a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest performance of Bihu dance on April 14 in Guwahati in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra and other dignitaries witnessed the final rehearsal. Earlier, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the statue of Usha Aniruddha at Tezpur Court Chariali.
