Assam New Cabinet Sworn-in: Himanta Biswa Sarma has been sworn in on Monday as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam. A 13-member Cabinet also took oath to serve the people of Assam. Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi administered the oath of secrecy at a ceremony held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati.
Himanta Biswa Sarma took the oath in Assamese.
BJP National President J P Nadda flew down on Monday morning to be present at the swearing-in ceremony. Former Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal and BJP's Assam in-charge Baijayant Jay Panda was also present.
Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma, Nagaland CM Neiphu Rio, Tripura CM Biplab Kr Deb, Manipur CM N. Biren Singh were present. Opposition leaders Ripun Bora of Congress and Hagrama Mohillary of BPF also attended.
Himanta Biswa Sarma arrived at around 11.45 AM accompanied by mother, well-known writer Mrinalini Devi, wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma and children Nandil and Sukanya. Sarma was clad in the traditional Assamese attire of Assam Pat silk kurta, dhoti and Pat silk gamocha with red motifs.
The event was attended by all the MLAs.
Of the 13 members, there are 6 new faces – Assam BJP President Ranjeet Kr Dass is now a Minister in the Cabinet. The other new faces are Ajanta Neog, a former Assam Minister and 5-time Congress MLA from Golaghat, Bimal Borah, Tingkhong MLA, Dr Ranuj Pegu, Dhemaji MLA and former chief executive member of Missing Autonomous Council, Ashok Singhal, Dhekiajuli MLA and former Assam BJP spokesman, Secretary and Treasurer of Assam BJP and Urkhao Gwra Brahma of UPPL, a well known writer and winner of Sahitya Akademi Award. A popular face from Bodo heartland, Brahma won from the Chapaguri seat

Parimal Suklabaidya, five time MLA (1991, 2001, 2006, 2016 & 2021) from Dholai and former Assam Minister for Environment and Forest, Fisheries and Excise retained his slot in the Himanta Biswa Cabinet. Another senior BJP leader and Commerce and Industry and Transport minister in the earlier Sarbananda Sonowal government, Chandra Mohan Patowary and AGP President and Agriculture Minister in earlier Sarbananda Sonowal government, Atul Bora continue to remain as ministers. AGP's working president and former Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta took oath for a second term as a Minister.
Former Ministers of State Jogen Mohan, Pijush Hazarika and Sanjay Kishan have been elevated to Cabinet rank ministers.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had personally invited AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal for the swearing-in ceremony but Ajmal could not attend as he is in Mumbai.
Several eminent journalists, well-known personalities, artists were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
