Guwahati: On the day of Durga Puja Shashti, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the Ganeshguri flyover in Guwahati. The flyover is expected to ease the traffic congestion at the Ganeshguri point, one of the busy traffic junctions of the city.
The flyover was completed within the promised time.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal emphasized on what Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been stressing on — 'Transportation is Transformation'. The CM also said that the state government has been relentlessly working towards the development and upgradation of the transportation system of the state.
State Finance and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also highlighted the various developmental works that the state government has undertaken over the last four and a half years.
"We have started a tradition. We can also work like Delhi and Kolkata. The work for 16 new flyovers in Assam is going on. The flyover at Guwahati supermarket will be opened during Bohag Bihu," Dr. Sarma said.
The 425.50 meter-long Ganeshguri flyover has been constructed with a cost of Rs. 58.78 crore from SOPD (State-Owned Priority Development) fund 2019-20.
CM Sonowal had laid the foundation stone of the flyover on March 6, 2019.
Minister Dr. Sarma and Guwahati Development Department minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya were present during the occasion.
