Assam: CM Orders SEBA To Pause HSLC Exam In Centres Reporting Cheating Events

GUWAHATI: Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, announced on Monday that the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination has been cancelled in the centres where the cheating issue occurred.

For the applicants from these centres, separate exams will be held.

The Gonirgram Higher Secondary Examination Center in the Cachar district, where the cheating instances occurred, has been named as one of the testing sites.

On the other hand, Union High School in the district had up to 50 mobile phones retrieved from HSLC candidates, which led to the cancellation of the exam at this centre as well.

Both of these centres have been served with a show-cause notice from the SEBA, and they have three days to respond.

Recognizing the instances of cheating and paper leaks, the authority said that action would be taken against the testing locations where cases of paper leaks were occurring.

"We don't need a facility where cheating is common," he declared.

The centres that spread the question papers online will be punished.

"While today the question paper of the mathematics subject went viral, the candidates have not been profited," CM Sarma said in reference to the frequent occurrences of paper leaks in higher secondary (HS) and high school leaving certificate (HSLC) examinations.

Narnarayan Nath, the SEBA Secretary, has been called by CM Sarma.

The SEBA administrators once again denied the reports alleging a paper leak incident and published a notification outlining their arguments.

According to sources, the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Mathematics question papers were leaked in the Cachar district of Assam on March 6.

The paper went viral on the second day of the HSLC exam within the first 15 minutes of the mathematics exam.

A few images of the question paper also gained popularity on social media. It was thought that a Lakhipur test centre may have been the source of the question paper images.
