Guwahati: The Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday appreciated Karimganj BJP President Subrata Bhattacharjee for surrendering his Personal Security Officer (PSO).
Notably, the CM Sarma on Saturday had asked the BJP leaders and officers bearers to give up their personal security officer (PSO).
Following the same, Bhattacharjee wrote a letter to Superintendent of Police (SP) of Karimganj on Saturday to withdraw his PSO.
"Inviting reference to the subject cited above and informs you that I have intended to surrender my Personal Security (PSO) and requesting you to withdraw the same and oblige," the letter read.
Praising Bhattacharjee, the CM took to micro-blogging site twitter and said, ''I am in deep gratitude, & grateful to Sri Subrata Bhattacharjee, President BJP Karimganj for having given up his PSO on my request. Every karykarta in @BJP4India is committed to principles of humility & connectedness with people pusuing ideals taught by Hon PM Sri @narendramodi.
The Chief Minister said while addressing a function in Guwahati on the occasion of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee's 97th birth anniversary, the CM said,"I will ask state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita to impress upon the party leaders to give up their PSOs."
"We do not need PSOs to open the doors of the cars. We have the strength to open our doors. I was at the Congress party. I have a list of such types of practices which the Congress party patronages," he said.
