Baghjan: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal conducted a review meeting to take stock of the pace of implementation of rehabilitation projects in the Baghjan area. He also asked the implementing departments to execute time-specific projects to ensure the well-being and welfare of the people.
The review was of the decisions taken during the CM's visit to Baghjan on June 14 when the CM visited Baghjan along with Union Minister of Petroleun and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Baghjan blowout occurred on May 27, when the gas-producing well suddenly became active during workover operations in well under Baghjan oil field. the disaster caused much harm to the livelihood of the people living nearby. CM Sarbananda Sonowal had announced many projects and schemes for the socio-economic development of the people as a relief the masses.

In addition to reviewing the progress of these schemes, CM Sarbananda Sonowal also reviewed the Baghjan Rehabilitation through handloom weaving and asked the Handloom and Textile Department to implement the projects. He also overviewed the progress of NH-37 to Baghjan gaon. Sonowal also asked Water Resources Department to implement anti-erosion measures proactively as a permanent solution to flood and erosion issues in Baghjan.
