Assam: Coaching camp inaugurated in Darrang district

MANGALDAI: Darrang district committee of Dr Hedgewar Seva Samiti in a unique praiseworthy initiative, has taken up a novel plan for organizing a year long coaching programme for the meritorious UPSC/APSC aspirants belonging to the economically weaker sections of Darrang district. This initiative was ceremonially launched in an inaugural function on Sunday at District Library auditorium here. Around five hundred enthusiastic audience including students, guardians, teachers, government officials and social activists attended the inaugural function.

Addressing the function as a guest speaker, Dr Jayanta Biswa Sarma, a UK based senior physician and a progressive thinker-cum-writer said that it’s very much encouraging to be an aspirant for the civil service to serve the country, since the development mechanism of the whole country lies in the hands of the civil servants while existence of the politicians are temporary, but becoming an IAS is not ‘be all , end of all’ . If that would have been the case, recruitment of several hundreds of highly meritorious civil servants every year could have taken the degree of development of the country to a significant height since independence. “However preparing for the service would help anyone to acquire huge knowledge which in return assures him to achieve a dignified position in future,” he added.

Participating in an interactive session with the participants, Vinay Sheel Choudhary, Director of Sukalp IAS academy who is also a co-partner of the programme said that selected aspirations will be guided and mentored both in off-line and online mode and help them with a road map, statistics, dos and don’ts etc essential to achieve the goal. He expressed his observations that for an aspirant who has a clear conception over the NCERT syllabus from class VIII to XII, could develop a habit of studying 12 hours a day and regularly follow the editorials of leading newspapers for current affairs at least for a year. Cracking UPSC is not at all a difficult task. He also introduced Pranab Borah and Manjil Barman who will be associated with the programme as the resource persons.

Mangaldai Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia, Darrang DC Munindra Nath Ngatey, senior office bearers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Rathindra Sinha and Prafulla Boro also delivered inspirational speeches. Earlier Rana Basistha, convener of the programme gave a brief outline on the objectives of the programme in his welcome speech.
