GUWAHATI : We are currently living in a digital-virtual era, hence it is important to be digitally advanced. Assam Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, on Thursday announced that, basic computer knowledge is important for all the teachers to work in an institution.
This is applicable on both the existing educators as well as the newly appointed ones. Computer education is now considered mandatory for schools teachers in Assam.
The minister stated that, several cases have come to light where new computers are being used. The reason behind this is that, teachers lack basic computer knowledge. In many schools, educators have said that they have no idea as to how to operate the device.
Pegu said that, such excuses won't be considered in the future and noted that computer education will be compulsory for candidates to acquire jobs as teachers from now. He further emphasised on the importance of computers in today's world. As the world is digitally getting advanced with each passing day, every individual should at least have some basic knowledge about the device.
Individuals who lacks knowledge in this subject should grow their interest and learn more about it. He also announced that, computer knowledge will be made mandatory in state government service rules.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has planned to appoint around 6000-7000 teachers in different schools across Assam. 530 candidates will be designated as contractual teachers and the rest will hold a permanent positions, stated CM Himanta Biswa Sharma.
On Wednesday, the CM mentioned that an advertisement will be out prior to 30th of December regarding the allotment of teachers.
Apart from this, Ranoj Pegu on Wednesday also announced that, regular teachers will now have to go through an annual appraisal as well through Annual Confidential Report (ACR), and the contractual teachers will be evaluated through an online app.
