Assam continues medal streak as Shivangi Sharma wins gold in swimming at Khelo India Games

GUWAHATI: Participants representing Assam continue to bring more laurels to the state at Khelo India Games taking place in Guwahati.

Assam's swimmer Shivangi Sharma won gold in 200 meters freestyle swimming and Prabal Pratim Gogoi earned silver in 55 kg weightlifting category.

Maharashtra is currently leading the medal tally.

Around 6,800 athletes are expected to participate in the third edition of the Khelo India Youth Games. The athletes will take part in a total of 20 sports with lawn ball and cycling being new additions to the Games. The opening ceremony took place at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Guwahati.
