Silchar: Former president as well as secretary of Silchar Bar Library and a prominent left leader Chunilal Bhattacharjee breathed his last at a private hospital following a massive cardiac arrest. Bhattacharjee, 82, had left behind his wife. His last rites were performed after his mortal remains were paid tribute at CPM office. Born in 1941, Bhattacharjee began his professional career as junior engineer in Irrigation department. An ace footballer, Bhattacharjee left his government job and joined the legal profession. Bhattacharjee joined the CPM in early 80s and he was the president of the tea cell of CITU for a long period. He was also the secretary of the district unit of the CPM.
