SILAPATHAR: While trying to flee from the police, a suspected dacoit was hurt in a police operation in Silapathar in Dhemaji in Assam.
According to authorities, the suspect, Lakhindra Basfor, was shot and wounded in the leg while attempting to escape from the police with two other people. The dacoits reportedly fired at the police, forcing them to retaliate.
While Basfor was captured, the other two accused were able to flee.
Due to claims that the group was responsible for a number of theft and robbery incidents in the neighbourhood, the police had been keeping an eye on them.
The police reportedly initiated a search operation after receiving a tip that the offenders were present in the Lekhabali region.
When the police tried to capture them, the criminals fired on the police party, which prompted the police to retaliate, resulting in an encounter..
Lakhindra Basfor's white car, Rs 13,000, the guns they were carrying, and their capture resulted in the seizure of the items.
Since then, a manhunt has been conducted by the police in an effort to catch the fugitives and find the stolen goods.
Hifjur Rahman and Deep Nunia, two murder suspects, were able to escape from the Silchar Central Jail in Cachar in a separate event.
Last night, they broke out of the prison where they were being held in Ward No. 10.
In an effort to find the escaped offenders and recapture them, the police have launched an operation.
Another incident resulted in a dacoit being shot by police in Sipajhar. The thief has been identified as Taijuddin Ahmed.
He was associated with the Paltan Bazar heist, the police claim. According to reports, police brought Ahmed with them when they conducted an operation in Sipajhar.
When the cops opened fire on the dacoit during the operation, he tried to flee. Notably, CCTV recorded the robbery incident.
